Descripción
The Ochtumniederung bei Brokhuchting is characterized by wet meadows, marshy areas, reed beds and floodplain bushes. Some of the meadows are used extensively as grassland for agriculture. In the north-west of the protected area, a polder is created as a floodplain. In the winter months, the meadows in the protected area are also frequently flooded. As a result, the nature reserve is of great importance for resting waterfowl and waders. The area is also of particular importance as a breeding area for meadow birds. The nature reserve is home to Avefría Europea, Archibebe Común, Aguja Colinegra, Agachadiza común, Cuchara Común, Pájaro-moscón Europeo, Ruiseñor Pechiazul and Martín Pescador Común.
