Descripción
The Panama Rainforest Discovery Center is located within the Soberanía National Park and is an ecotourism and environmental education project under the administration of Eugene Eisenmann Avifauna Foundation, which main goal is the conservation of birds through environmental sustainability projects. The center is surrounded by lush rainforest teeming with wildlife, including over 500 species of birds, monkeys, sloths, and countless insects and plants.
About 200m from the Visitor Center, along a gravel path and wooden walkway, you will find the centerpiece of the site, the 100-foot tall observation tower that offers panoramic views over the forest canopy. A spiral staircase of 174 steps brings you to the top deck at 32m high, just above the forest canopy. Several well-maintained gravel trails allow visitors to explore the forest floor. You can walk to the viewpoint at the edge of the Calamito Lake which has a small deck with benches that is great for observing water wildlife. Or you can watch the hummingbird feeders in the Visitor Center.
