Descripción
The area is a remnant of the growing of sugar canes. It is easily accessed, although it is not open to the public at all times. Usually it is open 2hours daily on weekdays and twice in holidays. A check at the homepage is advised prior to a visit. During the breeding season it may be necessary to be accompanied by a guide. Several well kept hides are available. These give excellent photo opportunities. Common interesting species to be seen are Focha Moruna, Calamón Común, Avetorillo común, Martín Pescador Común and in winter Ruiseñor Pechiazul.

Accesso
The charca is situated in the city Motril. Approximately 80 kilometers east of Malaga. It is best accessed by car. Coming from Malaga via the highway A7 leave at exit 322 towards Lobres and Salobrena. Continue towards Motril Salobrena. after passing under the bridge of N-340 continue towards puerto. Continue until a camping sign. Turn right here and the turn right again to Camino del Pelaillo. The charca is on your right a few blocks, after the hotel Elba. It is usually possible to park on the street.
After entering the charca you are best advised to follow the trail around the area. It will take about an hour (plus birdwatching).

The site is usually open 2 hours daily from Wednesday to Friday and twice on weekends. On national holidays the reserve is closed. It is recommended to check the Facebook page and opening hours website-page before a visit. Zee the links below. During the breeding season all visits are guided.
