Descripción
Busör is one of the west coast's best locations for birdwatching, especially in the spring, but the birding can be rewarding all year round. In spring the bird migration can start as early as the end of February with geese and swans, but usually does not start in earnest until the Éider común migration (with occasional Éider real each spring) around March 20. It continues with Negrón común, grebes and skuas. At the end of April, terns and Colimbo Chico start migrating with occasional Colimbo de Adams and Págalo Pomarino being present. In May, Arctic waders such as Correlimos Común, Aguja Colipinta, Chorlito Gris and Correlimos Gordo can also pass.
The arrival of summer means a more quiet time, with the exception of strong westerly winds that can bring a little bit of everything in the way of seabirds. Autumn migration already starts in mid-July, when the waders start to appear, including Correlimos Común, Correlimos Zarapitín, Correlimos Menudo, Correlimos de Temminck and sometimes some Correlimos Falcinelo. With fresh winds from the west, you can have a nice migration of seabirds, including auks, Gaviota Tridáctila, Alcatraz Atlántico, Fulmar Boreal, skuas, Gaviota Enana and sometimes even Paíño Boreal. The migration often passes close to land.
In winter with fresh winds from the west, you can have a nice stretch of mainly auks and Gaviota Tridáctila. Bisbita Alpino is now seen annually on the beach meadows, as are other pipits and Escribano Nival. Correlimos Oscuro and Cormorán Moñudo are occasionally seen on the reef. In mild winters, Agachadiza común, Agachadiza Chica and Chocha Perdiz can also overwinter.
Rare birds that have been observed include Barnacla cuelliroja, Éider menor, Negrón americano, Negrón Careto, Colimbo Grande, Pardela cenicienta, Paíño Europeo, Garceta Común, Garceta Grande, Chorlito Dorado Americano, Correlimos Pectoral, Falaropo Picogrueso, Gavión Hiperbóreo, Gaviota Patiamarilla, Gaviota del Caspio, Gaviota de Sabine, Gaviota Rosada, Pagaza Piconegra, Fumarel Aliblanco, Arao de Brünnich (several finds), Tórtola Europea, Búho Real, Tarabilla común, Mosquitero Ibérico, Reyezuelo Listado, Serín Verdecillo, etc.
Breeding birds include Archibebe Común, Pico Menor, Pito Real and Mosquitero Común.
Tip: Take a walk in the coastal forest inside the cape. Especially after nights with good small bird migration, as there can be a lot of birds there.
