Oberwil Ziegelei is a fenced nature reserve with several ponds on a former brick quarry. Pasture is naturally trimmed by Highland cattle. Exciting observations are possible all year round. In winter waders sometimes visit the area. Otherwise spring and autumn migration. The ponds and surrounding fields and hills attract birds like Agachadiza Chica, Agachadiza común, Andarríos Grande, Bisbita Pratense, Alondra Común, Tarabilla común, Grulla Común, Escribano Palustre, Escribano Cerillo, Jilguero Lúgano, Gavilán Común, Abejero Europeo, Chocha Perdiz and Cerceta Común.

From Basel towards Oberwil BL. At the roundabout in the town center turn towards Allschwil. Park after approx. 500 m at the parking lot of the Gymnasium Oberwil. Cross the street and you're already there. With public transport from Basel SBB, take tram no. 10 in the direction of Rodersdorf. In Oberwil center change to bus line 47 in the direction of Allschwil. Two stops go to Oberwil Gymnasium. Good accessibility also by bike.
