Descripción
Pelitözü Pond is a calm and accessible birding spot just outside Bilecik city centre. The area combines a freshwater pond, reedbeds, grassy edges, scattered trees and surrounding woodland, creating a variety of habitats that attract birds in all seasons.
The lake itself is home to waterbirds such as Ánade azulón, Zampullín Común, Focha Común, and Garza Real. During migration periods, the number of species increases, with birds like Somormujo Lavanco, Cerceta Común and occasionally Cormorán Grande using the lake as a resting stop. The surrounding trees and bushes hold species such as Carbonero Común, Herrerillo Común, Mirlo Común, Pinzón Vulgar and Verderón Común. In open areas around the lake, you may also spot Lavandera Blanca and Jilguero Europeo.
What makes Pelitözü special is how easy and relaxed birding feels here. You can slowly walk around the lake, stop at viewpoints, and watch birds at close range. It’s an ideal place for beginners, photographers, or anyone looking for a peaceful birding session without long walks or difficult terrain.

Early morning and late afternoon are the best times for birding, especially for waterbirds and reflections on the lake. In winter, the lake can host interesting overwintering species, while spring brings more movement and song from woodland birds.
There are cafés, picnic areas and benches nearby, making this a comfortable location for longer visits. The area is popular with walkers and families, but birding remains productive, especially away from the busiest picnic spots.
