Blashford Lakes is a good place for birdwatching, as it has a large amount of bird species there. Blashford Lakes is a great place for observing overwintering birds such as Avetoro Común, Bigotudo and Garceta Grande . The more regular species of this reserve include, a breeding colony of Avión Zapador, breeding Martín Pescador Común and Somormujo Lavanco. On the lakes you can also spot wintering wildfowl such as Porrón Osculado and Serreta Grande.

Blasford Lakes is between Poulner and Verwood ( which are both small towns ), and is easily accessed from both of these locations. If you go to Blashford the carpark for the reserve is in the education centre on the southside of Ellingham road.
