Descripción
Resident and passage waders, especially at Haven and at Longhoughton Steel, 1.5 km north. Large Chorlito Dorado Europeo flocks in winter, with records of Chorlito Dorado Americano and Chorlito Dorado Siberiano. Passage Zarapito Trinador and Correlimos Zarapitín. Winter Correlimos Oscuro. The tidal foreshore is unusual in that there are sheltered areas of shallow water protected from waves by reefs at almost all states of the tide, making it an important feeding location for the Charrancito Comúns that breed at the nearby Long Nanny (q.v.) and other terns.
Colimbo Chico and Colimbo Grande, and occasionally Colimbo Ártico, can be seen offshore in winter, and Colimbo de Adams has been recorded.
Vagrant passerines on foreshore and at Seaton Point, 1.5 km south in 2020-22 included Ruiseñor Pechiazul, Zarcero Icterino and Collalba Desértica. Escribano Nival regular in winter. Alcaudón Dorsirrojo and Alcaudón Norteño have both occurred on passage.
