Cardiff Bay is good for birds all year round. Residents include Vuelvepiedras Común, Colirrojo Tizón, Bisbita Costero and Serreta Grande. The first can be seen on the green walkways in groups, whilst the rest can be seen basking on the rocky edges.
Avión Zapador, Avión Común and Vencejo Común can all be seen in summer. Avión Común nest in ready-made boxes under the eaves of houses by the roundabout barrage entrance. Avión Zapador nest in the walls of the bay.
Ostrero Euroasiático can be seen on the barrage all year round, as well as Archibebe Común. Verderón Común is another resident around the bay. When the tide goes out, many species, such as Tarro Blanco can be seen feeding.
Winter visitors include Gaviota Enana. However, check sightings before going as they tend to move around a lot. Finally, rarities include Zampullín Cuellinegro, Pato Havelda and Porrón Acollarado.

Easy accessible from Cardiff. Plenty of parking areas available. Click on a P in the map for directions. Walking is possible from Penarth to Barrage. Walking is the best way to explore the area.
