Waders passing Fife Ness in autumn can include Archibebe Común, Archibebe Claro, Correlimos Oscuro, Andarríos Chico, Andarríos Grande, Zarapito Real, Aguja Colipinta, Zarapito Trinador, Chorlito Dorado Europeo, Chorlito Gris and Avefría Europea. Possibility of Gaviota Groenlandesa, Gavión Hiperbóreo, Gaviota Rosada, Éider real, Escribano Lapón or similar in winter. There is a hide below the lighthouse. From September to April one can seawatch in comfort for skuas, shearwaters, gannets, divers, auks and gulls.
In 2022 there are plans to create a shallow loch, wader scrapes, marsh etc on a brownfield site, formerly Crail Airfield. See link for details.

Accesso
Crail is east of Anstruther and south of St Andrews. Parking is tolerated at Crail Golf Club, seek permission at the clubhouse.
