At Gunthorpe Gravel Pits 120+ species of bird have been seen, including Serreta Chica, Serreta Grande and Serreta Mediana in winter, when Avefría Europea, Cuchara Común and teal can be numerous on flooded fields. Spring brings Carricero Común, Carricerín Común, Buscarla Pintoja to breed, and Fumarel Común, Collalba Gris and Tarabilla Norteña on migration. In summer, Alcotán Europeo hunt swallows over the ponds.
