Llandrindod Wells Lake is best avoided in high summer from a birding perspective due to the rafting, sailing and kayaking activities. In spring there may be Carricerín Común, Carricero Común, Escribano Palustre, Martín Pescador Común, Garceta Común, Cormorán Grande, plus woodpeckers, Papamoscas Gris, Papamoscas Cerrojillo, Mosquitero Musical, Colirrojo Real and Chocha Perdiz in the woods.

Llandrindod Wells is 4 miles east of the A470 Rhayader-Builth Wells road. The train station is a stop on the scenic Heart of Wales line, see link below. The lake is at the southern end of the town. The figure of eight walking loop shown is 2 km.
