From the circular 10 km perimeter track the reservoir and its flooded backwaters can be viewed with ease. The northern reach favours woodland birds and in summer several species of warbler breed here. Mirlo-acuático Europeo breed along the inflow river at the northern end. In autumn, when water levels are low, Andarríos Chico and Andarríos Grande are regular visitors. In winter good numbers of wildfowl congregate on open waters and within the wooded creeks. You can spot Cerceta Común, Porrón Osculado, Zampullín Común, Serreta Grande, Colimbo Chico and Colimbo Grande. The main body of the reservoir is a roost for large numbers of gulls with sometimes Gaviota Groenlandesa and Gavión Hiperbóreo.
