On the islands of Loch Maree Islands National Nature Reserve Colimbo Chico and Colimbo Ártico nest. Piquitureto Común, woodpeckers, Chocha Perdiz, Mosquitero Silbador, Papamoscas Cerrojillo and Trepador Azul in the woods. Perhaps Ampelis Europeo in winter. Pine marten are fairly common in the area and may visit the feeders in the car parks. Red deer, roe deer and red squirrels, possibly wild cat.

There are several parking spots along the main road. The site is 60 miles west of Inverness and 105 miles north of Fort William. Boat trips available from the Maree Hotel.
