Mere Sands Wood is a Lancashire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve. Keep your eyes peeled for species like Camachuelo Común, Gorrión Molinero, Pico Picapinos and Gavilán Común as they fly to and from their nests in the woodland. If you take a seat in one of the lakeside hides you may see Somormujo Lavanco performing their elaborate courtship ritual. Martín Pescador Común are present as well as wintering Avetoro Común. The lakes and reedbeds also support Rascón Europeo, Escribano Palustre, Porrón Osculado, Porrón Europeo and more.There are multiple hides, and it's easy walking.
