Descripción
There is layby parking on the Newport iron bridge which is a good viewpoint. Look for waders, gulls and terns in autumn/winter - Chorlito Dorado Europeo, Charrancito Común, Chorlito Gris, Agachadiza Chica, Agachadiza común, Zarapito Real, Combatiente, Avefría Europea, Correlimos Común, Correlimos Tridáctilo. Alcatraz Atlántico, shearwaters and Frailecillo Atlántico may be seen from the beach, or the cliffs further north, which may also have Cernícalo vulgar, Chova Piquirroja and Tarabilla común. Carricerín Común, Carricero Común, Escribano Palustre, breed in the reeds where Garceta Común, Rascón Europeo and Martín Pescador Común may also feed.

The estuary and adjoining town of Newport, Pembs (not the same as the city of Newport, Gwent in east Wales) are midway between Fishguard and Cardigan, 10 miles from each, on the A487 coast road. Buses every 2 hours. Nearest trains at Fishguard. The south shore walk is 3 km there and back, the north shore and clifftop walk is 4 km.
