Descripción
Savernake Forest is the largest forest in private hands in the United Kingdom. The forest owned since the Norman Conquest by the same family for 32 generations is managed (since1939) by the Forestry Commission. Lancelot 'Capability' Brown designed the 'Grand Avenue' (nearly 4miles long) that is the longest tree lined avenue in the U.K. The forest is CLOSED to the public one day each year on the first working day of January, many of the older fallen trees are left for the benefit of fungi and invertebrates. Some birds you can expect to see are Picogordo Común, Paloma Zurita, Cuco Común, Camachuelo Común, Carbonero Palustre, Gavilán Común and Ruiseñor Común.
