Descripción
The reservoir is shallow, having only a maximum depth of 9m (30’), which makes it very attractive to both dabbling and diving ducks. It occasionally attracts less common wildfowl, such as Serreta Grande and Negrón común and Somormujo Cuellirrojo, Zampullín Cuellinegro and Zampullín Cuellirrojo. Waders are often present in spring and autumn, including Combatiente, Andarríos Grande, Agachadiza común, Archibebe Común, Ostrero Euroasiático and Chorlitejo Chico. Scaling Dam can also be an excellent place to watch raptors and, from the hide, an eye should always be kept on the moorland plateau and valleys for Aguilucho pálido, Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental, Esmerejón and Halcón Peregrino and, if you are extremely lucky, Milano Real or Busardo Calzado. The site is also good for summer visitors, such as Cuco Común, Tarabilla Norteña and Mosquitero Musical, and residents like Tarabilla común, Lavandera Cascadeña and Gorrión Molinero.
There is a hide for birdwatching where you might see Avefría Europea, Ánsar común, Barnacla canadiense grande, Cisne Cantor and many wading birds.
