The flooded former gravel workings in the Kennet valley running over four miles from south west Reading to Sulhampstead attracts birds all year round. Among the birds you can encounter are Curruca Capirotada, Curruca Zarcerilla, Curruca Mosquitera, Cetia Ruiseñor, Alcotán Europeo and Ruiseñor Común. There is a substantial population of Winter ducks, mostly dabbling, including hundreds of Porrón Moñudo, Ánade friso and Silbón Europeo and the odd Porrón Osculado.
