Descripción
Talybont Reservoir has two bird hides, car parking, and a nice cafe in the village. Shallow water, marshland and exposed mud at the top end attract dabbling ducks, waders especially Chocha Perdiz, Agachadiza común, Agachadiza Chica, Garza Real, Garceta Común and Rascón Europeo in autumn and winter. The woods have Papamoscas Cerrojillo, Busardo ratonero, Cárabo Común, Trepador Azul, Agateador Euroasiático and Chotacabras Europeo. In the surrounding streams look for Lavandera Cascadeña, Mirlo-acuático Europeo and Tarabilla común. And on the moors may be Zarapito Real, Chorlito Dorado Europeo, Lagópodo Común, Cuervo Grande, Bisbita Pratense and Collalba Gris . The nearby canal has Martín Pescador Común.

Between Brecon and Abergavenny. Take the B4558 and turn south in Talybont village. A regular bus service runs through the village, from which it's a 2 mile walk to the reservoir. The circular route up to Tor y Foel is 5 km, with 250 metres of ascent. Stout boots, a hiking pole, snacks, a drink and waterproof clothing are recommended.
