Descripción
An extensive area of self-sown scrubland holds good numbers of warblers in summer, mainly Mosquitero Musical and Mosquitero Común, but also Curruca Zarcerilla and Curruca Capirotada. More mature trees provide habitat for Cárabo Común. Trepador Azul and Cotorra de Kramer have become common in recent years. The Wallsend Burn holds regular Martín Pescador Común and Lavandera Cascadeña, and occasional Mirlo-acuático Europeo in winter. In its lower tidal section Archibebe Común is regular, and the semi-tame Ánade azulóns can attract other ducks, including Tarro Blanco, Cerceta Común, and more rarely Ánade rabudo norteño and Pato Mandarín. There is limited viewing of the River Tyne where the stream runs into the Tyne, but is still worth checking for inland seabirds on the main river; Colimbo Grande, Arao Común and Alca Común have all been seen here on occasion, and in summer there is a constant procession of Gaviota Tridáctilas moving to and from their nesting sites further upsteam.
