You will see dozens of Acorn Woodpeckers as well as birds such as: Turkey Vulture, Anna's Hummingbird, California Quail, California Scrub-Jay, Oak Titmouse, California Towhee, plus a variety of ducks and gulls on the river. Look near the parking lot for Yellow-billed Magpies.

The Nature Center is located inside Ancil Hoffman Park. As you enter Ancil Hoffman, you'll see a place to pull over and use a machine to buy a parking pass. It's $7 and you put the receipt on your dashboard. Then drive a little further and park near the Nature Center. Once you're there, the trails are flat and easy to walk. The Nature Center has a friendly staff and cool events.
The terrain down near the river is very rocky, but the rest of the trails are quite easy and child-friendly.
