Description
Étang du Rouillard is a recreational area that offers many birds a habitat during the breeding season. Numerous pairs of kyhmyjoutsen, kanadanhanhi, nokikana, sinisorsa and silkkiuikku breed in the area. A host of nesting passerines accompany them, such as västäräkki, etelänsatakieli, lehtokerttu and taiturikultarinta. Other species that can be observed include kalatiira, harmaahaikara, tuulihaukka and sometimes nuolihaukka. During migration birds like pikkutylli, punajalkaviklo, töyhtöhyyppä and Paksujalka make a stop annually on the grasslands near the airfield. Mainly at the beginning of the year mustanmerenlokki can sometimes be observed. ruokokerttunen and rytikerttunen sometimes stop in the small reedbeds of the pond in early spring. harmaasieppo and kirjosieppo are regular in the autumn. Winter is also interesting to observe overwintering ducks.

Étang du Rouillard is located near the town of Limay, on the bank of the Seine River, west of Paris. There is a large parking lot near the lake. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. You can make a circular walk of 3,5 km around the two lakes.
