Description
Falkenhagener See is a shallow, elongated lake in Falkensee. Forests, small settlements, and open spaces surround the lake, giving it a calm, suburban‑nature feel. Falkenhagener See is a glacial lake, about 44 hectares in size, roughly 2.2 km long. In the early 1990s, the lake underwent a major desilting and restoration project to prevent ecological collapse; water levels are now stabilized with inflow from the Havelkanal. The western shore features the Vogelinsel, a small island important for birds. Birds you can see around the lake include kyhmyjoutsen, merihanhi, tukkasotka, punasotka, Liejukana, nokikana, kuningaskalastaja, viitatiainen, rytikerttunen, pyrstötiainen, hippiäinen, pähkinänakkeli, vihervarpunen and pajusirkku.
