Description
A mosaic of water, reed, swamp groves and grasslands in the excavated peat. That is De Deelen, in the heart of the province of Friesland. In autumn and winter, thousands of ducks and geese, including haapana, tundrahanhi, Lapasorsa and valkoposkihanhi come to De Deelen. Rare species such as mustatiira, ruskohaikara and ruskosuohaukka also live in the area. If you listen carefully, you may be able to hear the pensassirkkalintu singing in the spring. Other birds you can see here are merihanhi, kapustahaikara, sinirinta, kuovi, sinisorsa, tukkasotka, punasotka, silkkiuikku, hiirihaukka, kanadanhanhi, pajusirkku and kalatiira.

Small parking lot available. It is a walking area with some marked paths, Unfortunately also sometimes used by dog walkers. Has a small bird observatory. From the parking to the birdhide is about 1 km.
