Description

While Pipeline Road is Gamboa’s most famous attraction, Ammo Ponds is another important stop. Despite its name, Ammo Ponds is actually a grassy marsh with open pools, while the “ammo” refers to a nearby, heavily secured munitions dump rather than the ponds themselves. Good place to spot herons, rails, crakes, kingfishers, flycatchers, warblers and birds like Anhinga, Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, Southern Lapwing, Wattled Jacana, Snail Kite, Golden-collared Manakin and Keel-billed Toucan.
