Lake Erçek is surrounded by mountains and hills. The patchy reedbeds and mudflats attracts many bird species. During the breeding season it is easy to see valkopääsorsa and during the autumn kiljuhanhi flocks are coming to the lake area. On the other side, there are many other species to see such as ruostesorsa, flamingo, yöhaikara, merihanhi, kehrääjä, Kurki and punasotka.
