A variety of birds can be seen at Golden Acre Park and through the neighbouring Breary Marsh, including waterfowl, migrant warblers, pähkinänakkeli, Liejukana, nokikana, tukkasotka and silkkiuikku. The Adel Dam nature reserve, owned by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, is adjacent to the eastern side of the park.
