A mostly sandy beach with some grassy foreshore and pebbles. Can be an interesting place to stop for a picnic before high tide.

Description

Hest Bank Beach is not too far from the M6 if you are driving past and has plentiful road side parking outside of summer beach season. On the right evening it can be a lovely place to take a stroll and then watch the sunset with a cup of tea and picnic before continuing your journey. In the hour or so before high tide (see link to tide table below) most birds will have been pushed to within viewing distance, although dog walkers may scare off flocks occasionally.

In winter kapustarinta, tylli, meriharakka, mustaviklo, mustapyrstökuiri and suosirri are all possible. harmaahaikara, silkkihaikara, kuovi and töyhtöhyyppä are likely year round. ristisorsa, haahka and silkkiuikku may be seen on the water.
