Description
The area has a mixture of habitats including more open areas of grassland, a good selection of trees, most of which are best described as being young, including Ash (Fraxinus), Oak (Quercus), Alder (Alnus), Hazel (Corylus), Cherry (Prunus) and Sycamore (Acer) and boundary hedges.
Most birds are of more common species, käki and pensassirkkalintu are sometimes seen but more regularly heard and are more than likely to be just passage migrants. Both tiltaltti and mustapääkerttu are regular summer visitors and some may overwinter. pajulintu are summer visitors and haarapääsky can be seen feeding over the open grass areas.

Kings Tamerton Woods LNR has a number of entrances, some of which are steep and are well served by bus from Plymouth city centre. Car parking is on street only, press P's on map for directions.
