Description

Merkinch is an area of tidal pools and mudflats, reedbeds, ponds, saltmarsh and scrub. Birds seen include telkkä, haahka, all three diver species, alli, mustakurkku-uikku, ruokki, koskikara, luotokirvinen, vihervarpunen, järripeippo, isokäpylintu, pensassirkkalintu, sääksi (kalasääski) and varpushaukka.

Access

Merkinch is the NW suburb of Inverness. Follow Thornbush road/Kessock road to the terminus where parking is available. Regular bus service.
