Description
Messingham Sand Quarries has a tick list of 180 bird species. Two hides available. Reedbeds provide nest sites for rytikerttunen, ruokokerttunen, silkkikerttunen and pajusirkku. kaulushaikara is a regular visitor. Winter wildfowl such as haapana, Lapasorsa, punasotka, tavi and harmaasorsa. In 2001 amerikankyyryhaikara showed up here.

Access
Just south of Scunthorpe and the M180 motorway. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Exit the reserve with care as its a fast straight road. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 3 km long.
