Description
The Moor Green Lakes Nature Reserve occupies 36 hectares north of the River Blackwater. A footpath runs along much of the River Blackwater and provides reasonable, but sometimes distant, views of the lakes. There are 2 hides on the reserve providing good views of the lakes. Resident birds are pikku-uikku, silkkiuikku, silkkihaikara, varpushaukka, töyhtöhyyppä, minervanpöllö, kuningaskalastaja, pajusirkku, punatulkku and isohaarahaukka. Summer visitors are pikkutylli, naurulokki, kalatiira and nuolihaukka. In winter you can expect isokoskelo, telkkä, uivelo, virtavästäräkki and sometimes suopöllö. During migration birds like heinätavi, sääksi (kalasääski), ruskosuohaukka and valkoviklo can sometimes be spotted.

At the western end, there is a small car park off Lower Sandhurst Road (SU 805 628), and at the eastern end, the Activity Centre car-park off Mill Lane (SU 821 620).
