Description
The Puffin Cove is a small island with impressive numbers (thousands!) of lunni burrows from late April to August. Along the cliffs, species such as ruokki, etelänkiisla and karimetso breed as well. Although the lunni can not be approached and seen from very close range, their numbers and associated activity are definitely worth a short detour, especially in the peak of the breeding season.

Access
The site is located along Scotlands northern coastline. You can park at a small parking lot at A836 around 14 miles west of Thurso (see the P on the map). After a short walk along a (sometimes unclear) path through moist moorland and small stream (Wellington boots advised), you'll reach the cliffs, from where you have a decent view on the island.
