Description
The Herenbossen is a nature reserve located in the valley of the Grote Nete river. The area consists of an old deciduous forest, grasslands and heathland relics. The bird population is very diverse. Due to the combination of forest and the proximity of the Grote Nete, you will find a mix of woodland birds and more water-bound species here. Birds that you can spot include various woodpecker species that peck energetically on the old trees. In spring and summer, the loud call of the Loriot d'Europe can be heard, and with a bit of luck you will find the bright yellow male in the treetops.

Nederlands: De Herenbossen is een natuurgebied, gelegen in de vallei van de rivier Grote Nete. Het gebied bestaat uit een oud loofbos, schrale graslanden en heiderelicten. De vogelpopulatie is heel divers. Vanwege de combinatie van bos en de nabijheid van de Grote Nete tref je hier een mix van bosvogels en meer watergebonden soorten aan. Vogels die je kunt zien zijn onder meer diverse spechtensoorten die hevig tokkelen op de oude bomen. In het voorjaar en de zomer is de luide, exotische roep van de Loriot d'Europe te horen, en met geluk vind je het felgele mannetje in de toppen van de bomen.

Grote Nete and Herenbossen are located south of the town of Hulshof. You can park near 't Toreke, a milestone and picnic area. Press P on the map for directions to the car park. From there, walk towards Grote Nete and Herenbossen. The circular walk shown on the map is approximately 2.5 km.

Nederlands: Grote Nete en Herenbossen ligt ten zuiden van Hulshof. Je kan parkeren in de buurt van 't Toreke, een mijlpaal en picknickplaats. Druk op P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar de parkeerplaats. Van daaruit wandel je richting Grote Nete en Herenbossen. De rondwandeling die is weergegeven op de kaart is ongeveer 2,5 km.
