Description
Little remains of the original 19th-century Wolfsheuvel forest. The oldest trees in the new forest were planted in 1940. Despite its relatively young age, the forest provides habitat for many birds, such as Pic noir and Buse variable. The pond is a magnet for waterfowl and a breeding ground for reed birds such as Rousserolle effarvatte. Among the mammals, the roe deer is the most conspicuous species. In the middle of the area at the pond you will find a bird watching screen.

Nederlands: Wolfsheuvel ligt in Wuustwezel en is ook bekend als het 'bos van de boerenbond'. Van het oorspronkelijke bos uit de 19de eeuw is weinig meer over. De oudste bosbestanden zijn aangeplant in 1940. Ondanks de relatief jonge leeftijd vormt het bos het leefgebied voor heel wat vogels, zoals Pic noir en Buse variable. Het ven is een trekpleister voor watervogels en een broedplaats voor rietvogels zoals Rousserolle effarvatte. Onder de zoogdieren is de ree de meest opvallende soort. In het midden van het gebied aan het ven vind je een vogelkijkwand.

Wolfsheuvel is located between the towns of Wuustwezel and Kalmthout. The forest is accessible via Duffelaarstraat. The car park in Wolfsheuvel is accessible via Kapelstraat. Entrance: Kapelstraat, 2920 Kalmthout. Press P on the map for directions to the car park. Public transport: The nearest bus stop is the Duffelaarstraat bus stop (1) on Kalmhoutsesteenweg. By bike: Junction 5 is near Wolfsheuvel. The circular walk shown on the map is approximately 3 km.

Ingang : Kapelstraat, 2920 Kalmthout. Druk op P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar de parkeerplaats. Openbaar vervoer: De dichtsbijzijnde bushalte is de bushalte Duffelaarstraat (1) aan de Kalmhoutsesteenweg. Met de fiets: Knooppunt 5 ligt in de buurt van Wolfsheuvel. De rondwandeling die is weergegeven op de kaart is ongeveer 3 km.
