Falkenhagener See is a shallow, elongated lake in Falkensee. Forests, small settlements, and open spaces surround the lake, giving it a calm, suburban‑nature feel. Falkenhagener See is a glacial lake, about 44 hectares in size, roughly 2.2 km long. In the early 1990s, the lake underwent a major desilting and restoration project to prevent ecological collapse; water levels are now stabilized with inflow from the Havelkanal. The western shore features the Vogelinsel, a small island important for birds. Birds you can see around the lake include Cygne tuberculé, Oie cendrée, Fuligule morillon, Fuligule milouin, Gallinule poule-d'eau, Foulque macroule, Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Mésange nonnette, Rousserolle effarvatte, Mésange à longue queue, Roitelet huppé, Sittelle torchepot, Tarin des aulnes and Bruant des roseaux.
