The Nature Reserve of Lago di Posta Fibreno was established to protect its unique environment and biodiversity. The crystal-clear waters are fed by natural springs. The lake's ecosystem is remarkable for its endemic species, most notably the rare freshwater snail Marstoniopsis insubrica, which is found only in this lake.
The reserve encompasses a mosaic of habitats. The lake and and the reed beds that fringe the lake’s edges, provide breeding grounds for various bird species, including herons, kingfishers, and migratory birds. Wooden boardwalks lead you through the reeds and to a bird hide.

L'ecosistema del lago è straordinario per le sue specie endemiche, in particolare per la rara lumaca d'acqua dolce Marstoniopsis insubrica, che si trova esclusivamente in questo lago.
La riserva racchiude un mosaico di habitat. Il lago e i canneti che ne bordano le rive offrono siti di nidificazione per varie specie di uccelli, tra cui aironi, martin pescatori e uccelli migratori. Passatoie in legno conducono attraverso le canne fino a un capanno di osservazione.

Lago di Posta Fibreno is located about 120 kilometers southeast of Rome, near the town of Posta Fibreno. You can park along the lake. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot. From the parking you can explore the area and the boardwalk trails on foot. The total length of the walking route shown on the map is about 3 km one way.
