Pools along the River Almond surrounded by riparian forest and open fields. You can reach the Almond Pools by a flat riverside trail from South Livingston. Birds you can observe include waterbirds like Grèbe castagneux, Cygne tuberculé, Gallinule poule-d'eau, Sarcelle d'hiver, Fuligule morillon, Garrot à oeil d'or, Harle bièvre, Goéland argenté and also several species of woodland birds.

The Almond Pools are located 20 miles west of Edinburgh, near South Livingston. Parking for about 10 cars at the trailhead. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The trail along the River Almond can be very muddy.
