Around the Fish Quay in Hartlepool gulls hang around, especially on the roof. Often joined in winter by Goéland à ailes blanches and Goéland bourgmestre. In the harbour entrance Eider à duvet, Plongeon catmarin, Plongeon imbrin and Guillemot de Troïl can often be seen. Sea watching by the lighthouse can produce a large variety of gulls, ducks, auks, terns, skua’s and shearwaters at various times of the year. The rocks along side the promenade are home to Bécasseau violet, Huîtrier pie and Tournepierre à collier that winter in Hartlepool bay.
