Pittville Park is in Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. Part of the park was opened in 1825, but today it still has a typical Victorian feel about it's layout.

Description

Pittville Park is in North Cheltenham, or correctly called Cheltenham Spa. The park is divided by the very busy A435, a pedestrian tunnel connects the two. The Eastern side with a smaller lake, called upper lake has no fishing and is more formal in layout. The Western side has a larger lake, called lower lake allows fishing. This side is more natural looking, with wooded areas and wildflower meadows during Summer. In recent years more seed and fruit bearing trees have been planted.

Whilst it may at first sight just look like any other typical urban park, it has had some unusual avian visitors, such as Plongeon imbrin, Harle bièvre, Balbuzard pêcheur and Chevalier guignette.

Cheltenham can be extremely busy with many festivals happening throughout the year. The park is not as busy during weekdays, a visit early morning at the weekend may be best. On Saturday's a Park Run usually takes place.
