Description

Queen's Park is a public park in Crewe. There are several paths throughout the park, all well paved and suitable for wheelchair use. There are also lots of benches. The paths allow very close access to an artificial 4.5 acre lake (1) where you can see a large variety of waterfowl: Foulque macroule (sometimes with a colour ring), Gallinule poule-d'eau, Canard colvert, Cygne tuberculé, Héron cendré, Grand Cormoran, Goéland argenté, Goéland brun. During winter months large flocks of Mouette rieuse are gathering here. Harle bièvre, Canard mandarin, Goéland cendré and others can often be seen.

The lawn is often busy with Bernache du Canada. In summer they often form big kindergarden groups of many goslings. Bernache nonnette can sometimes be seen with the other geese.

A shallow valley, known as the ‘Coronation Valley’ (2), runs north/south through the north-west quarter of the Park, with its small man-made stream where Merle noir, Chardonneret élégant and other birds are often seen bathing. There are also several bird-feeders along the route that attract Mésange charbonnière, Mésange bleue, Sittelle torchepot, Mésange noire, Rougegorge familier, Accenteur mouchet, Pie bavarde and others.

The paths g othrough a landscape planted with a variety of trees and shrubs where one can find Geai des chênes, Verdier d'Europe, Pigeon colombin, Grimpereau des bois and even a Chevêche d'Athéna. In winter the park is visited by Grive litorne, Grive mauvis and in some years by Gros-bec casse-noyaux.
