RSPB The Oa is home to many important breeding and wintering birds, including Crave à bec rouge, Aigle royal, Busard Saint-Martin, Faucon pèlerin and occasionally Râle des genêts. During the winter months the reserve is very important for wintering Oie rieuse and in particular, Linotte à bec jaune. With The Oa reserve hosting likely the largest wintering flock in the UK. Aigle royal is present throughout the year, soaring above the cliffs and moors.
