Description
A headland in Seaton Sluice jutting into the North Sea. Site of an old Coast Guard lookout, now converted into a seawatching hut by the Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club. Good for seabirds and waders, with viewing of flypast birds to seaward. Among the birds you can observe are Eider à duvet, Macreuse noire, Macreuse brune, Harelde boréale, Fou de Bassan, Fulmar boréal, Puffin fuligineux, Puffin des Anglais, Huîtrier pie, Grand Gravelot, Tournepierre à collier, Labbe parasite, Grand Labbe, Sterne caugek, Sterne de Dougall, and many more. Occasional Martin-pêcheur d'Europe in winter in the burn mouth.

Park on Collywell Bay Road, accessed off Links Road (A193). Walk to Kings Arms and cross to 'Rocky Island' over footbridge. Access to the seawatching hut is by key only to members of the Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club, but if someone is already in, visiting guests are usually welcome, knock on the door.
