There can't be many British birdwatchers that have not visited this premier seawatching site, those who haven't will certainly have heard of the legendary status of St Ives Island. The headland has a coastguard station at the top, which most seawatchers use to shelter from prevailing winds. It's possible that seabird movements can happen in any month. Due to St Ives being a VERY POPULAR and BUSY summer seaside location with narrow streets, a visit outside this time is probably best. North West or Northerly winds can bring the best results and at times birds can be extremely close to shore.

On the A30 after passing the town of Hayle take a right turn onto the B3074 that takes you to St Ives, the car park (fee payable) is to the North of the town through narrow streets just below the headland.
