Description
During the winter months, many migratory duck and geese species rest at Altwarmbüchener See, such as Siva Guska, Kanadska guska, Egipatska guska, Divlja Patka, Krunata Patka, Kržulja, Patka Kreketaljka, Zviždara, Patka Batoglavica, Glavata Patka, Veliki ronac and Tundra guska. Also Crvenokljuni Labud, Veliki Vranac, Ćubasti Gnjurac, Velika Bijela Čaplja and Siva Čaplja can be seen regularly. The park around the lake is home to Bijela Pastirica, Planinska sjenica, Crnoglava sjenica, Zviždak, Zimovka, Kos and many more.
During the summer months there is a lot of bathing activity and observation opportunities are limited.

Access
Altwarmbüchener See is located northeast of the city of Hannover. The lake is easily accessible by public transport (tram line 3). The tram stops (1) are 500–900 m from the lake. There are also numerous parking spaces available. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking lot. A circular path (3,5 km) leads around the lake. In summer, there is a kiosk, boat rentals, and public restrooms.
