Description
The river Segno flows into the sea in the town of Vado Ligure. Birdwatching around the mouth of the river Segno (Foce del Segno) is particularly good for species of ducks, seabirds or other wintering birds. Seagulls (Riječni Galeb, Galeb klaukavac, Mali tamnoleđi galeb), loons (Crnogrli Plijenor and rarely Sjeverni plijenor) and grebes (Ćubasti Gnjurac, Ušati gnjurac, Crnogrli Gnjurac) are especially frequent. While the beach is often frequented by waders, herons and other small passerines associated with marshy areas. In 2025 a specimen of (possible) wild Grivasta guska was observed.

Access
The basin of the stream Segno is largely included in the municipality of Vado Ligure (and in the past in the municipality of Segno, now abolished), and to a lesser extent affects the municipalities of Quiliano and Bergeggi. It borders to the north with the basin of the Quiliano stream, to the west with that of the Sciusa and to the south with that of some smaller streams that flow directly into the sea.
