Description
CEGB Reservoir or Teardrop Lake is a former brick pit. At one time it had a muddy shoreline and a large reedbed, nowadays the water is much deeper so diving birds and terns on passage and a large gull (Laridae) roost are the main targets for the at times numerous birdwatchers.
(1). Be sure to check this area, a Mrka Crvenrepka was found in the car park here in the Winter of 2004 - 2005.
(2). South Shore, with the whole reservoir surrounded by a tarmac path, from here with the sun behind you, you can see the whole area of water (NOTE a telescope is essential).
(3). North End, diving species such as Crna patka, Sjeverni plijenor and Crvenogrli Plijenor tend to favour this end, don't forget to check waterside vegetation for Močvarna Strnadica and Svilorepa. Also in Summer Trstenjak cvrkutić and Trstenjak Rogožar.
(4). South East shore, a favourite spot for geese, a Lisasta Guska was found in the past, but more usual today are Egipatska guska and small numbers of Sjevernomorska guska. Gorska Pastirica favour this area and waders such as Crvenonoga Prutka, Mala Prutka and Crnokrila Prutka occasionally drop in.
