Description
Chief habitats in Elan Valley and Gigrin Kites are: streams and open water, frequented by grebes, Vodenkos and Gorska Pastirica. The ancient sessile oak woodland is home to Šumska Crvenperka, Crnoglava Muharica, Šumski Zviždak, Kratkokljuni puzavac, Kobac and open moorland containing Sova močvarica, Mali Sokol, Veliki Pozviždač, Troprsti Zlatar, Žalar Cirikavac, Red Grouse, Sivkasta Bjeloguza, Poljska Ševa, Crnoglavi Batić Eja Strnjarica and Gavran.

Access
Kite feeding station south of Rhayader feeds daily each afternoon. It has a hide and parking. Reservoirs are west of Rhayader and have several car parks, wetland birds usually at top ends. For a circular drive to see 4 of the 5 reservoirs, keep turning right to follow Elan valley. Claerwen reservoir is a dead end for cars.
