Description
In Glen Tanar 106 bird species have been seen, passerines and raptors prominent. Suri orao, Eja Strnjarica, Kobac, Crvena lunja, Škanjac, Sivi Sokol, Sova močvarica, Zlatoglavi Kraljić, Krstokljun, Čižak, Crnoglava Muharica. Wildcats possible, also Red Deer, Otter, and Pine Marten. Red Grouse and Tetrijeb ruševac occur on higher ground, but although formerly a stronghold for Tetrijeb gluhan, these have unfortunately now died out.

Glen Tanar is 6 km (4 miles) SW of Aboyne, which is on the A9 road east of Ballater. The nearest bus service is in Aboyne (6 km). Click on the P in the map to get directions to parking and visitor centre. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 8,5 km.
